How To Break Through A Fitness Plateau

When it's cold and dark outside, who feels like working out? Winter weather can be a massive deterrent when it comes to getting active. Whilst we all wish we can stay rugged up inside with the heater on all day long, it’s still important to regularly workout!

Girls, don’t let the weather stop you from reaching your goals. There ARE ways you can get motivated again so you can continue to work towards your fitness goals. Here’s how!

#1 Layer Up

It’s very challenging to get up and out when it’s freezing cold, but the right clothing will make it so much easier. The key to this is wearing layers, so you’re warm enough to start exercising, but once your body temperature has increased, you can remove some layers throughout your workout.

Winter is the perfect time to wear your fav leggings (try and find thick leggings, not the see-through thin type). You can still wear an exercise crop, but also throw on an oversized tee and a jacket on top. If you’re going for a walk outdoors, you could even wear gloves and a beanie.

#2 Make the most of home workouts

Babes, you don’t have to leave the house to workout if you don’t want to! If you really are not able to get to the gym due to weather, then doing an LSF home workout is a solution. Every LSF program and challenge has home workout options. All you need are booty bands and dumbbells - you’ll still be able to do a very effective workout that will leave you feeling accomplished.

#3 Train with a friend

Training with a friend could be the extra motivation boost you need! Having someone else that you train with (either virtually or in-person) can help keep you accountable and inspired to keep staying active, even when your motivation may dip a little. Even if you are both doing different programs, you can still block out time to train together and regularly check in with each other about your progress.

#4 Be prepared

Preparation is the key to success. The more prepared you are to workout, the easier it will be to stick to. This means you could lay out your gym clothes the night before, pre pack your gym bag, pick out your workout playlist in advance, and get to sleep on-time. Fitness is a lifestyle… the more your everyday habits are in alignment with your fitness goals, the more likely you’ll stay motivated to keep going.

#5 Commit to a goal

Having a clear goal is a powerful motivator. Whether your goal is to lose weight, build muscle, or simply just to stay active, keeping your goal in mind gives you a reason WHY you’re doing what you're doing! Consistency is the key to achieving your goals, so no matter what the weather, you’ll have that intrinsic motivation to keep you on track.

It’s often easier to work towards a goal when you commit to a goal-oriented program. LSF Programs vary from 4 weeks - 8 weeks and aim to help you lose fat, build your glutes, sculpt a bikini body and so much more. Programs include specifically curated workouts and nutritionist-designed meal plans to keep you on track. You’ll know longer have to think about what workouts you’re going to do or what you’re going to eat… simply just follow along and you’ll be on track to get results!

Whilst winter can feel demotivating, true motivation to workout comes from within. If you want to achieve your goal and stay active, you CAN - no matter what the weather. With the right strategies and program to follow along to, you’ll have the motivation boost you need to keep you on track all season long!
